1st March 2019

It’s 2019, Y Not is 14 years old.

We’ve had our ups and downs and to celebrate this victory we have done you the solid favour of finding out what CRACKING songs are just as old as we are.

  1. Axel F – Crazy Frog

STARTING THIS BLOG OFF STRONG. Anyone remember this ridiculous song? If you don’t then go and listen… you’re welcome. This was most of our ringtones on our flip phone Motorolas. If you don’t know what that is… go to bed.

  1. Don’t Cha – The Pussycat Dolls

Oh yes. Don’t Cha. Splitting 14 year old couples up throughout the entirety of 2015 via sassy school disco dancing. Yeah… I know you know what I’m talking about.

  1. Fix You – Coldplay

14 years later and this song still makes us fall to our knees and start crying. Chris and his Coldplay pals sure did write a ballad that’ll never grown old.

  1. Gold Digger – Kanye West

Another song that is it proven physically impossible to grow old is Kanye West – Gold Digger. This pre-Kim Kardashian anthem had us all grinding on the under 18 club night dance floor. You did it too… admit it.

  1. Hey There Delilah – Plain White T’s

“OHHHH IT’S WHAT YOU DO TO ME” 14 years on and I still got questions… Why did Delilah move to New York City? She was still at school?? Did the Plain White T’s change the world? Hit me back.

  1. Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt – We Are Scientists

I still listen to this song when I need a bit of uplifting. It’s crazy to think it was 14 years ago that this post-punk anthem flooded our lives.

  1. Oasis – Importance of Being Idle

Niche I know, but it’s my favourite Oasis songs and I’m probably the only person who’s going to read this blog. With a sick music video featuring Rhys Iffans… go and check it out.

  1. Dirty Little Secret – The All-American Rejects

Can anyone else not stop thinking about 2000 US teen dramas when they hear this song? Take me back to The OC already.

  1. Ordinary People – John Legend

Forget about Disney. It’s John Legend… giving the world unrealistic expectations of men and marriage.

  1. Best of You – Foo Fighters

I’VE GOT ANOTHER CONFESSION TO MAKEEEEEEEEE. Oh the angsty teen in me is ITCHING to come to the service when I hear this Foo Fighters tune. Dave Grohl is a timeless classic and a TRUE legend and I won’t let anyone else say otherwise ok.

  1. Switch – Will Smith

Every list must include Will Smith in some form. He is the ultimate chameleon. From Men in Black to this absolute tune.

  1. Dakota – Stereophonics

I guess I have to mention Dakoka… with Stereophonics being past headliners of Y Not and all. This song is 14 YEARS OLD. Let that sink in for a second. We’re all getting old.

  1. Dance, Dance – Fall Out Boy

It’s 2019 and Fall Out Boy still haven’t stopped. And you know what? I’m ok with it. You Dance Dance was a tune and they’ve also released a few more. You do you Fall Out Boy.

  1. Rihanna – Pon De Replay

Couldn’t make this playlist without slipping Rihanna in. I don’t think I need to even follow up, she’s just Rihanna isn’t she.

Anyway, you’re all welcome. I hope you’ve shared some memories with us and if you don’t remember these songs I hope you receive a spiritual awakening.
